Wastewater System Improvements

About the Project
We are currently underway on a major project to replace pipelines and improve our wastewater lift stations, which move wastewater through our system to treatment. We are updating six wastewater lift stations and consolidating two others (for seven total stations). This long-overdue project will make our wastewater system much more reliable and involves upgrades across our service area.
Construction began in November 2025. Full completion is planned for 2027.
The first part of the project (begun in 2026) included:
- Installing a new wastewater lines between two of the sewage pump stations along Serena Drive and south into City open space. (Lift Stations 1&2) STATUS: Underway (more info below).
- Upgrading our lift station north of Hidden Point Blvd. and Serena Drive (Lift Station 1 Renovation Project)
- Permanently removing a sewage lift station (Lift Station 2) and adding a new gravity sewer and pipeline in the open space South West of Hidden Pointe Blvd and Monarch Blvd (northwest of the Briar Trace Drive cul-de-sac). STATUS: Underway (more info below).
- Replacing our lift station in the Hidden Pointe neighborhood, behind 343 and 355 Crossing Circle (Lift Station 5 Replacement Project). STATUS: Underway (more info below).
- Significant rennovation of the sewage lift station near Forest Park (Lift Station 3). STATUS: Underway (more info coming soon).

Construction Impacts - What to Expect

Impacts in Nearby Neighborhoods: The District is committed to proactive, transparent communication about impacts, detours, noise, and construction schedules. Construction impacts may include noise, equipment staging, increased truck traffic, and temporary lane/road and trail closures. The District will work to minimize construction impacts as much as possible, provide traffic control, maintain property access, keep trails open whenever possible, and coordinate in advance with local schools, neighbors and businesses.
For outages closures and signifiant updates we may post door hangers, mail notices to nearby homes/businesses,or send out notifications on our Daupler text messaging service! (sign up here if you haven't already). The District appreciates your patience as we work on these necessary upgrades and will work to minimize disruption however possible. All the stations and pipelines should be finished by the end of 2027, prepared to serve our community for decades to come.
Recent Updates:
- Wastewater Project Timeline: Lift stations 1, 2 and 5 are scheduled to be completed in early 2027. Site and open space restoration work will primarily begin in January. More details below.
- The trail south of Hidden Pointe Blvd is officially open. Additional closures will be required at a later date. More details below.
Traffic & Noise Impacts: Lift Station 5 Construction

This project includes the installation of emergency overflow vaults designed to provide additional protection for the local environment and nearby waterways, as well as the replacement of the existing lift station with a new, modern system. These upgrades will enhance the reliability and resilience of critical wastewater infrastructure in the area. The project is ongoing and scheduled for completion in Feb/March 2027. Crews are currently waiting on supplies to continue construction.
Traffic & Trail Impacts: Lift Station 1 & 2 Construction
Increased construction traffic along Hidden Pointe Blvd. and a short portion of Crossing Circle. We encourage residents to use caution when traveling in these areas. These projects are ongoing and scheduled for completion in Feb/March 2027.
All trails in open space west of Briar Trace and Briar Haven Drive are currently open with a bypass near Lift Station 1. We will post updates here as they occur.
Q: Why can’t equipment be stored out of sight?
A: Vehicles and equipment must be stored within the project area in locations approved by the City of Castle Pines. This ensures that your neighborhood’s storm drainage is protected and the site is secure at the end of each workday.
Q: What is being done to keep the construction area safe and clean?
A: Our contractor is required to keep the construction sites safe and secure at all times. CPNMD staff will make routine visits to construction sites to ensure that they are being properly maintained. If any additional clean-up is needed, we will direct the contractor to do so.
Q: What will the project site look like once construction is over?
A: At project completion, the contractor is responsible for fully restoring the property to pre-construction conditions.
Q: Why are there trail closures?
A: Because of the location of several of the lift stations and their pipelines, the District's contractors need to close or reroute nearby trails for public safety. The District will always work to reroute or reopen trails as soon as possible.
