Leak Adjustment Policy & Online Request Form

Leak Adjustment Policy Summary

The District may grant a leak adjustment subject to the following conditions:

  • Eligibility: Leak adjustments are available only for qualifying leaks. They do not apply to excessive water use caused by oversight or negligence, including:
    • Water left running
    • Irrigation clocks programmed incorrectly
    • Overwatering or irrigation system mismanagement
    • Other non-leak-related causes of excessive consumption

  • Frequency: Leak adjustments are limited to no more than two consecutive billing months within any two-year period.

  • Proof of Repair: Customers must provide verification that the leak has been repaired before a leak adjustment will be considered. The District requires documentation, such as a repair invoice, receipt for materials, photographs, or other evidence deemed acceptable by the District.

  • Customer Responsibility: Customers remain responsible for paying for all water used. Leak adjustments do not reduce the amount of water billed.

  • Adjustment Method: For approved leak adjustments, the billing rate—not the water usage—is adjusted. Water consumption attributable to the leak will be billed at the customer's historical usage tier rather than the higher tier rates that would otherwise apply.

  • District Determination: Approval of a leak adjustment is at the District's discretion and is based on the circumstances of the leak and the documentation provided.
